Personal appeal from VietAbroader’s Co-Presidents:

Dear VietAbroaders,

When we began our duty as co-presidents roughly two weeks ago, VietAbroader has already been undergoing a process of transformation. Indeed, ever since its foundation many years ago, VietAbroader has never stopped growing, and as of today it has become the home to a vibrant community of thousands of members, with projects catering for the need of hundreds of Vietnamese youth every year.

As new executives of the organization, and together with the new Board of Directors, we hope to continue this tradition. For us to achieve this goal, we will need the same support that has made VietAbroader’s past transformation possible - that from you, members of the VietAbroader community. We are thus honored to announce the recruitment campaign for positions in VietAbroader’s Executive Team 2012. Through this campaign, we hope to be able to enlist committed support from our most experienced and passionate members, and to provide our members an opportunity to substantially contribute to VietAbroader.

What’s new about this Executive Team?

The new Executive Team will be a standing, centralized, and committed team of leaders, who will provide coordinated support and supervision for all of VietAbroader’s projects. Having executives operating at a central level will ensure coordination between different projects, and will eliminate the need to reinvent the wheel after every year. This allows project teams (e.g. VAC organizing team) to be more compact, to learn and to access to resources from past years’ projects as well as from other projects going on at the same time. For team members, this new structure provides great team bonding experience, as well as a working environment with a certain level of professionalism that would benefit future career.

The new Executive will comprise of four administrative boards - Information Technology, Communications, Funding, Member Relations, and two boards for VietAbroader’s ongoing projects - VA Forum and VAPedia. Each board will consist of a Head, who directly reports to Co-Presidents, and a number of Associates. The Head of each board is expected to stay for a minimum duration of two years to ensure seamless transition of activities from one year to the next. Detailed job descriptions of each board can be found below.
