Overview The Interns in Vietnam (IIV) program connects high-achieving students with leading businesses and non-profit organizations in Vietnam for summer employment opportunities. IIV provides student participants an avenue to explore the business environment in Vietnam firsthand. In addition, students will contribute either through leadership or volunteerism in community service. For participating companies, IIV connects them with promising young leaders with a curiosity for working in Vietnam in the future.
Candidates IIV targets rising juniors and seniors in undergraduate college institutions as well as graduate students. The second IIV class of 2010 will have 10-15 interns placed at 3-8 organizations in Ho Chi Minh City. Eligible candidates will come from international locations as well as from Vietnamese residents.
Community Service Philosophy Giving back to the community is a fundamental tenet of IIV. During the summer, student participants will engage in community service activities.
Timeframe 8-10 weeks during the summer, with exact start/end dates dependent on school schedules. Exact dates will be determined between candidates and employers, but a minimum of 8 weeks working will be required.

) to committee by March 19, 2010. Applicants will select the industries and functions they are interested in. Selected candidates will interview with the committee (former IIV participants and advisers) via phone or in person to assess their qualifications and fit with IIV’s mission. Those accepted into the IIV community will have access to a pool of exclusive employer internship postings, and they will apply directly to each company. Please note: joining the IIV community permits access to job postings on an ongoing basis but is not a guarantee of employment. Ultimate acceptance into the IIV program is conditional upon acceptance by an employer partner. IIV will select candidates on the basis of demonstrated academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, leadership potential, interest in Vietnam, and a passion for service.
Compensation and Logistics In each job posting, employers will indicate compensation, timing, and ability to assist with logistics (travel and visas). IIV will provide resources to assist in participant transitions, but it is the responsibility of the employers and candidates to ensure that logistics are clarified in the selection process.
Employer Expectations Employers participating in IIV will appoint a mentor for IIV interns to ensure a mutually beneficial experience. This mentor will also coordinate logistics with the IIV organizers. Additionally, all IIV interns will participate in round table discussions with the CEO/General Director (or equivalent) throughout the summer. These sessions will serve to educate the IIV intern class about the company, industry, and working environment in Vietnam. These forums will serve as both a training experience for interns and a marketing/recruiting opportunity for employers. Further, it is also an opportunity for IIV participants to meet and develop informal and professional relationships. Each employer will be expected to host one forum.
